Tips When Using Your Cubby House to Throw a Birthday Party
If your child has a birthday during a time when there is normally good weather, you should seriously consider having their birthday party in your backyard and use their cubby house. A cubby house is the perfect toy for a bunch of partying children to enjoy. Plus, it is a low cost venue to have your party, it’s always great to save a little money.
One way to get creative about your ideas for the party is to pick a theme. This way you don’t go on idea overload and cause yourself – and the kids – too much stress. Once you pick a theme, you can search out some really good ideas for the party using the internet.
You’ll need to send out invitations. Why not take a picture of your cubby house or cubby fort and use it for your invites. Make sure you tell guest to come dress to play, so everyone can have tons of fun when they get there. If all of their friends’ parents have email or Facebook, why not send the invites via the internet as well? Just be sure everyone receives their invitation by checking on those who don’t respond.
Decorate the cubby with steamers and balloons. Don’t add too many decorations, you don’t want them to get in the way of the kids running, jumping and playing. A few ribbons and other decorations here and there will bring out the party spirit in all.
Use roll paper attached to the back supporting wall and leave out crayons so kids can write a message or draw a picture for the birthday boy or girl. What a great way to remember their day than to have this huge message board filled with well wishes and pictures their friends made for them.
Serving food at the birthday party? A barbecue is a good idea with tons of handy food that the kids will love. If you have a lot of kids at the party, have the eating area separate from the cubby where kids are play. There is less chance of a spill or choking. Kids should be relaxed to eat, running and playing in the cubby house or fort when they are done.
Have a cubby house scavenger hunt by placing pictures of a birthday cake or different colored balloons around the cubby. See how many kids can get the right count and give out prizes. If it is hot outside, have a water balloon battle or toss. The kids can also do party crafts on the deck of their cubby house.
Another fun thing to do on the deck of the cubby house or using a cubby fort is having a dance party. Use the music set up you have at home and bring it outside for the kids to dance, dance, dance.
When it is time for everyone to go home, be sure to let them know that you welcome them back for a play date with your child and the cubby. This will help your child be social and enjoy their friends even more.
Highlighted Cubby House: Kettle Creek Cubby Hosue
The Kettle Creek cubby house is a new and unique addition to our array of cubby houses. This is a fun cubby that was designed with the notion of your child enjoying the inside of the cubby as much as the deck on the outside of the cubby. The expansive deck offers a place for your little ones to enjoy a tea party or other type of activity that involves a table and chairs. Many kids like to use this space when they play their imaginary games.
