Outdoor Play Helps Kids Learn Math

When kids play, they learn. But would it surprise you that when kids play with outdoor play toys like swings and cubby forts, they learn math skills? They do! Math concepts like ‘what goes up, must come down’ or the trajectory of a swing are much easier to understand in the classroom when children have had real world experiences like using swings or a slide.

Here are a couple of cubby houses that will help your child understand their math:

Jungle Tower Cubby House

The Jungle Tower cubby fort is built strong, like me and the kids who like to play with outdoor toys like my cubby fort. The Jungle Tower cubby fort comes with quite a few accessories. You’ll get a telescope, periscope, and steering wheel that can be placed anywhere on the fort. Mount the steering wheel to the porch railing facing outward and your kids will drive down race tracks and through space. Or maybe they will go looking for Jimba, their Gorilla friend.

The cubby fort is elevated which allows for the ground level to be made into a sand pit play area. Sand pits also provide a way for physical fitness for kids. As your child scoops and shovels, carries sand buckets and dumps sand, they will be using all of their muscle groups – including the creative centers of their brain.

Chipmonk Kindy Gym

The onground cubby house has a semi covered veranda; four large windows that allow air to flow through the cubby keeping the occupants cool, from the porch of the cubby house there are railed in steps to the fort or lookout tower, From there your kids will enjoy sliding back down to ground level, where they can climb back up the rock wall and do it all over again!

The swing set part of the Chipmonk Kindy Gym has three separate swings. Pictured from left to right is the molded seat swing, trapeze bar with rings, and a flexible strap swing. An added benefit to the Chipmonk Kindy Gym is being able to switch out the type of swings you have. So, if you need another swing that accommodates two kids at a time, you can order the back-to-back swing and if you need to turn it into a punching bag or a standing board when your child gets bigger, we offer those too!
